Dear Readers,
My name is Franz Devantier, creator of this blog. I am an Oracle Certified
Professional (OCP DBA 11g) Security DBA.
I will be sharing with you the basic duties of an Oracle DBA, and also
some of the undocumented, and not so well known tasks.
Security, Checklists, Recommendations - Part
1
There
are many tasks to be performed in order to build good security, and securing
vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities could
be exploited either accidentally or maliciously, with potentially disastrous
results.
Good
security requires physical access control, reliable personnel, trustworthy
installation and configuration procedures, secure communications, and control
of database operations. Control of
database operations will include; selecting data, viewing data, updating data
records, deleting data records, and inserting data records. Some of the above mentioned requirements for
good security will involve applications, stored procedures, and human action. The security procedures must take into
account, how the application programs are developed, deployed, and maintained
etc.
Practical Security considerations to be
managed
·
Costs of equipment, personnel and training must
be carefully controlled
·
Delays and errors, must be minimized
·
Rapid and thorough accountability, should be
designed into proposed solutions
·
Scalability of the technology should be planned,
so that it can grow for a projected amount of time
These are the main categories that should
be considered
·
Physical Access Control Checklist
·
Personnel Checklist
·
Secure Installation and Configuration Checklist
·
Networking Security Checklist
